Registered Practical Nurse – Full Time, Permanent in Lakefield

June 8th, 2018 by Susy Snopek

Are you a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) who has a curious mind, desires greater autonomy and is keen for a new challenge?

Would you prefer to focus less on repetitive nursing tasks and more on identifying and solving patients’ health problems?

If so, why not consider a groundbreaking and collaborative nursing role in an Ontario Family Health Team!

Our family practice team is looking for an RPN who:

  • relies more on careful listening than on giving advice to patients;
  • demonstrates exceptional skills verbally and in documentation;
  • readily employs advanced features of modern medical record systems;
  • sees value in empowering patients to take responsibility for their own health;
  • is motivated to work to (and be accountable for) the full scope of practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • focuses more on the person than on the disorder;
  • is drawn to health issues associated with the latter half of the life span;
  • views patients’ mental and physical limitations as caregiving opportunities;
  • appreciates an interdisciplinary approach in which administrative and nursing staff, allied health professionals and physician pool their strengths;
  • has achieved first-rate skills and proficiency in wound care;
  • sees real value in a “customer service” approach to health care;
  • reacts quickly and meets challenges effectively when unusual needs arise;
  • has a reputation for reliable work attendance;
  • deals with outstanding patient issues before the work day ends;
  • is open to additional training e.g. in performing Pap, pelvic or breast exams.
