Registered Dietitian – 37.5 hours/week – 12-13 month contract (to end of July 2026)

Overview
The Registered Dietitian is an active member of a multidisciplinary team who is responsible for the delivery of patient-centered clinical nutritional counselling services. The services of the Registered Dietitian will serve to enhance the quality of primary health care services in the area and specifically with the Peterborough Clinic Family Health Organization (FHO). This 12-13 month (to end of July 2026) contract is 37.5 hours/week, working within the Peterborough Clinic, Peterborough
Responsibilities
- Identify nutrition problems
- Assess the nutritional status of patients
- Establish goal oriented treatment interventions
- Provide family/patient education and provide support to address nutritional needs
- Work collaboratively with the FHO based team to identify and respond to clinical priorities
- Develop care plans and monitor the effectiveness of dietary changes
- Facilitates group classes and workshops
- This position covers referrals for all health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal conditions, and malnutrition, but has a large focus on diabetes management – interest and knowledge in diabetes management is imperative.
- Provide support to adults and seniors, including those with complex medical needs
- Maintains an organized appointment schedule while managing caseload priorities
- Completes and submits workload measures data and time sheets as required
- Regular attendance to all FHT meetings is mandatory
Other related duties may be assigned in the interest of the efficient operations of Peterborough’s Family Health Team and the effective management of our patient populations.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday – Some occasional evening work may be required.
Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
- Two years’ experience in a primary health care setting preferred
- Current Diabetes Educator certification an asset or interest in completing
- Excellent assessment, planning and organizational skills
- Knowledge of the principles of adult learning
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate both individual and group educational sessions using the principles of adult learning
- Experience with Accuro an asset

- Demonstrated proficiency related to behaviour change counselling

- Capacity to adapt quickly to a fast paced, dynamic work environment
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- High degree of critical thinking skills
- Proven participatory work style; ability to work independently and with a team
- Basic computer skills
- Demonstrated commitment to continued education
- Demonstrated good attendance with ability to maintain this standard
